Why should I join this club?
This club is to introduce running to those who have never run before, and to provide mentor led sessions to those who are experienced in the sport. Anyone and everyone is welcome, and different levels of workouts will be made to sufficiently challenge the runners to help them improve. Running improves physical and mental health in numerous ways, as well as provides a social setting to interact and make friends. This is also a great way for athletes interested in joining cross country and/or track and field in highschool to train. Even if you aren't interested in taking up running as a sport, it is great conditioning for any other sport and overall physical health.
When are practices?
This club is an 8 week program and will take place from the first week of December to the first week of January. Practices are 2 days a week (more information on the "Our Locations" tab. Participants are expected to come to every practice. If an athlete cannot attend a practice, please email or message a coach beforehand.
Where are practices conducted?
We have three different locations that athlete's can sign up for. More information is on the "Our Locations" tab.
What should I wear?
Any form of running shoes, and athletic wear including t-shirts, shorts, leggings, etc. should suffice.
How old do I have to be to join?
The club's purpose is to encourage and expose students in middle school to running, so you would have to be in grades 6-8. If you or your child is not in middle school and you would still like to join, please email us at middleschoolmilersfremont@gmail.com and exceptions may be made.
How fast do I have to be?
No speed or experience is required! Whether you run a 5 or 15 minute mile, you are more than welcome to join. 3 levels of workouts will be made for each practice, which athletes can chose based on their athletic ability. As the athletes improve, they may start to try the higher level runs.
What if I miss a practice?
If an athlete plan on missing a practice please contact us beforehand so we know to expect their absence. This way we can also send them the workout to complete on their own time if they wish to do so.
What if it rains?
Rain, unless stated otherwise, will not cause a practice to be cancelled. If practice is cancelled, athletes can always complete the workout on your own.
